10. The Dunhill Namiki Maki-e Motorities Limited Edition- $180,000 or £146,000
This pen is a limited edition writing tool, only 25 pieces made, meaning it's considered rather rare.
The pen showcases Maki-e painting which is an ancient Japanese art, that is considered rare nowadays, adding to the value of the pen. The body of the pen features gold, silver and mother of pearl flakes throughout.
9. Montegrappa Dragon Bruce Lee Set- $290,000 or £236,000
This stunning piece is made out of precious Celluloid, 18-carat gold and white diamonds.
The set comes with a fountain pen, a ballpoint pen and a crystal ink pot, with an intricate 18-carat gold dragon guarding the ink.

7. Mystery Masterpiece by Montblanc, Van Cleef & Arpels- $730,000 or £595,000
Created to show off, this pen emits wealth. Van Cleef & Arpels, and Montblanc, teamed up to showcase their expertise and skill, as well as their success.
The mystery setting is part of Van Cleef and Arpel’s unique 1933 patent, in which the jewels look like they're floating. The pen has 70 gemstones in total and comes in three versions; ruby, emerald or sapphire.

This golden pen is stunning and only 8 in the entire world exist. The pen has over 43 carats worth of diamonds in many colours, plus a 2 billion-year-old Tsavorite gemstone, which is a deep green.
Tan was inspired by the planets and the pen was aimed toward women. Anita Tan is a Chinese Canadian, who honoured her roots by keeping everything the number 8, which represents good fortune in Chinese culture. The pen also contains a rare gemstone, Tsavorite that is over 2 billion years old.
Only 8 of the pens were created. Using 1888 diamonds to make it 48 carats in total, Tan priced it herself in 2010 at €688,000.
5. Diamante by Aurora- $1 million or £819,000

With over 30 carats of De Beers diamonds, two-tone platinum body and a solid 18-carat gold nib, this pen has the look and allure that Aurora wanted to create and the price tag to match. With over 2000 diamonds, and 1919 diamonds on the barrel alone to signify the founding year of Aurora, this pen is limited to producing one a year - it's little wonder this pen is so exclusive.
4. Caran d’Ache 1010 Diamond Edition- $1.28 million or £1.04 million
This particular design from Caran d’Ache is inspired by watches and clockwork, with the exquisite craftsmanship shown throughout.
The design was made with 18-carat white gold and over 850 diamonds in three different cutting styles; emerald, brilliant and baguette-cut. This pen is one of a kind and is very impressive.
3. Montblanc Boheme Royal Pen- $1.5 million or £1.2 million
Now down to our final 3, we have the Montblanc Boheme Royal pen, which showcases a stunning 18-carat white gold body, and over 1430 diamonds incrusted into it.
It is available in two styles, white diamonds, or black and white diamonds. The pen is refillable and has a retractable nib.
Being one of the most expensive pens on the market, it is clear that this was aimed toward a unique and exclusive audience.
2. Montblanc Taj Mahal Limited Edition- $2 million or £1.63 million
This is another pen that sits on the rare list, as only 10 pieces were produced in the world. It uses very traditional jewellery techniques but still boats an array of extravagant qualities.
The main body of the pen is encrusted with diamonds, sapphires and malachite that all sit on a champagne-tone gold. It is stunning.

In first place, we have the Fulgor Nocturnus by Tilbaldi, the pen being set with a flurry of gemstones; 945 black diamonds, 123 rubies and a sold 18-carat gold nib for durability.
The pen was created with the divine Phi ratio in mind and achieves this, the cap and barrel when closed are equal to the Phi ratio of 1.618. The pen is one of a kind and no others have ever been produced making it ultra rare.
The writing instrument was sold in Shanghai at a charity auction in 2020 and was sold for $8 million. This pen is a work of art and no other writing utensils have come close to the price tag of this pen so far.
